The first meeting of the Planning Group on Economic Issues (PGECON) will take place in Salerno from the 16th to the 19th of April.

The PGECON has been established by the European Commission in 2011 with the aim to discuss methodological and coordination issues related to the collection of fisheries statistics and data on the economic performance of the fleet, the aquaculture and the processing sectors.

The meeting will be attended by experts of 15 Member States and by members of the European Commission and the Join Research Center. The results of the PGECON meeting will improve the quality of the economic data necessary to provide appropriate scientific advice for the implementation of management measures. The meeting will provide inputs for the revision of the data collection regulation for the period 2014-2020.

The meeting is organized and coordinated by Irepa onlus. Evelina Sabatella, economist at Irepa and responsible for the coordination of the Italian National Program on data collection, will chair the working group for the next three years
